I’ve lost about 500GB of data from my 2nd hard drive (not boot drive) formatted in NTFS. I need to recover all of it, but all recovery software (im using recuva) tries to copy it to another location. Because the boot drive is smaller than the amount of data that I need to recover, I can’t use that.
In theory, all windows does when deleting a file is set a deleted bit, so I should beable to undelete the file by simply reverting the bit – no copying required, correct? Any ideas as to how I can safely recover the data? Is there software that anyone is familiar with that will recover the file in place?
