I need a free software program that I can use to edit pictures and video that I’ve taken with my Sony Handycam (mini DVD). I’d like to be able to transfer video from the mini-DVD to my hard drive, as well as edit, etc., and/or transfer to regular writeable DVDs.

If your computer has a drawer loading DVD optical drive, download and install HandBrake and rip the video from the DVD into a file type your computer likes.
HandBrake is available for Windows and Macintosh… MovieMaker likes .avi, .wmv and .dv files. iMovieHD like .mov, .mp4 and .dv files…
I used to use the Windows Movie Maker for doing a lot editing.
