I accidentally unpartitioned my external harddisk while doing running a recovery disc on my laptop because of some virus. Can i recover my data by repartitioning it or do i have to use a data recovery software/hardware .?

Can you see the files when you click on the drive?
I did something similar and had to get a recovery program. I bought Search and Recover 3 off ebay and it worked fine——but it’s slow. The “bad” thing it recovers anything you ever had on the drive and really deleted it. So you will have to delete them again after recovery. And you will need a separate drive to recover the files to also.
You’ll need to use a recovery program. Just creating a new partition of the same type will not show your data.
You can try Recuva.
