Trying To Fix Old Computer?

I have an older Hewlett Packard Computer that has windows 98. I do not use it anymore and my daughter asked if she could use it for just writing reports, etc…Anyhow it wasn’t running so well and would constantly “freeze” so I used it’s recovery C.D. which basically erases all the software, re formats(?) it and puts it back to the factory condition. Problem is it now only starts in safe mode. Any ideas on what I did wrong? Thanks

   Does it actually say “Safe Mode” in the corner, or do you only assume it’s safe mode because the screen is all huge? You probably just need to install the video drivers (and other drivers) for it.
