  1. Check if your firewall (if you have got one) is allowing AVG to access the net. AVG is an OK anti-virus, but there are better options like Avast (Home Edition) and AOL Active Virus Shield, both of which are also free. http://avast.com/http://activevirusshield.com/
P.S. Always use one anti-virus at a time.

That happened with my computer. You have to download the latest version of AVG. When you click the grey picture of it on your desktop, it should say “download newest version”. Or, and pop sign from AVG should keep popping up to remind you to dowmload the newest version. When you click it, it will give you a link to download the other version.

  3. Download Norton, Avast which are free antivirus software. They do protect your computer and you can keep updating them once in three days or so. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

You can update it from AVG’s site itself. Please go their site and verify.
But the, going by this info, you may not want to run that operating system againhttp://www.theinquirer.net/?article=1090…

  5. Use Verizon Yahoo Anti-Spy. It will let you know before you get a virus which I learned the hard way. And you know it’s safe there’s too many anti-virus you just don’t know. Yes I learned the hard way to find that out. Good luck.

you can get a 90-day trial of Norton Internet Security 2007 for free. it’s what I use and I think it’s the best computer protection suite out there.

AntiVir is a wonderful program to use. It scans files as they are being made (ex: if you are downloading software, the files are scanned as they come in) it works wonderfully for me.

i think when it comes to security programs…you get what you pay for for the most part…so far, kasperksy anti virus is the best anti virus software available and you can find it for decent prices if you look…as far as free anti virus, it would be wise to have at least two different programs working together…antivir personal edition or avast home edition are two that ive heard are good for being free

  9. Mostly noobs and the naive and the computer illiterate use AVG Free. These types love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!
In short, AVG Free is crap!
    In test, http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/defa...
    after test,http://www.av-comparatives.org/
    after test, http://antivirus.about.com/od/antiviruss...
    after test ,http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost….
    after test,http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130869…
    after test,http://techsupportalert.com/issues/al_cu…
etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG free fares poorly.
AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent “once-a day” updates.
    AVG. = Average, at best!
There are much better free alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:http://www.free-av.com/
    and Active Virus Shield:http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivir…

I found a really neat place where you can download FREE Google Software. It has programs like Adobe, Virus Protection, Spyware and many more. It is legit…..it is through Google. Click on the link below and you will see it on the right side, toward the top. Really cool…no joke!http://crazyhuh.blogspot.com

AVG is good but perhaps you might need to have the premium one to give you more protection. You can download the premium plus the crack from Bittorrent. I’m not sure why your AVG is not working properly. Anyway, AVG uses a lot of processing power although its good.
I would recommend you to use Kapersky. It uses only about 1% of your computer processing power and has more features provided with cracks in Bittorrent. It doesn’t affect the speed of your computer. Give it a try too k.
