How Do I Restore My Apple Ipod Video?

my ipod video 5th generation (is showing in gray like the older versions).” connect to your computer use itunes 2 restore” when i plug it (sometimes recognize my ipod) into itunes it says my ipod needs to be restored .. so i click restore “are you sure you want to?” i click restore”exacting software” is what it says in itunes then nothing else .. so i left it plugged in 4 a day and i plugged it out and it said the same thing … ” connect to your computer use itunes 2 restore” also says ipod has no capacity. please help .. i tried ipod support but the steps doesnt apply with my ipod. it says it is restored and is updating .. i give itunes time 2 recognize it then it repeates wat it said when i first started .. ‘IPOD IS IN RECOVERY MODE IT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED” PLEASE HELP .. is there a way to manually restore by using the buttons and no itunes?
