Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool – Is This Legit?

I have some kind of virus and have used my antispyware and antivirus software to get rid of it but they come up empty. I did a search for Microsoft free antivirus scan and the titled website came up. Is this legit. I would love to download this tool and do a scan but I’m leery. thanks.
