Lost Photos On Smartmedia Card. I Can See The Thumbnails On My Computer But The Pictures Can’t Be Opened/copyd

When I try to open the photos they are mostly greyed out. I can see a little of the top of the photos. I got a “write protected error” message once when I tried to copy the photos to my computer (I have not write protected the card), and another time I got a “parameters wrong” error. When I looked at the properties info it showed the created dates as Jan 1, 2000 and the second date as ?/?/1865. However, I was able to view and copy a few pictures that had the same date info. I tried a photo recovery program but it didn’t find anything at all on the card. How can i recover the photos? I looked to see if I could change the parameters (dates?) but couldn’t figure out how. Also I don’t know if it’s possible to remove a write protection I never put on the card, but if anyone knows how please help. I also thought of deleting the pictures and then trying the photo recovery software as a last resort but have no idea if that would work. Does anyone have any advice?> Thank you very much.

That’s happened to me before. I ended up turning my camera on and off in between transferring various pics that would work (I figured out which one was the problem and lost those). I salvaged most, though it was a pain trying to get them transferred. If for instance you transfer pic 1 of 50, try transferring the last or next to last & see if there’s any luck. Otherwise, you may have lost them all. You will then need to re-format the card (which means all is lost).

the card may have been corrupted. You may have to reformat the SD card. Sorry but you’ll lose the contents, but at least you can reuse the SD card.
    Take care and good luck.
