I Ran A System Recovery On My Compaq Presario. I Cannot Find My Documents And Picture Files. Please Help.?

Many of the program shortcuts are still on the computer but they do not work. I recently reinstalled my accounting software. Oddly, the old data poped up. Maybe my files are hidden somewhere also?

Usually when you do a recovery everything that you had after the recovery point is gone. I think there’s and option to undo the recovery if you go back to the System Recovery program.

I don’t believe System Restore touches your data files, only registry settings and other system files. Since it alters the registry, your shortcuts probably are affected as well. Your best bet is to reinstall the programs your shortcuts pointed to. Your data files should still be in tact unless you did something out of the ordinary.
Edit: Oops, you said System Recovery. That’s a bit different, not as familiar with that.

if you remember some of the file names try doing a search
maybe it will locate the file and show you to the folder path

The second answer is correct, a system recovery takes your pc back to the state it was in before the point you choose to restore to. Find a file recovery utility online, and try to recover them. Good luck.
