i am using windows xp. do you think Kaspersky internet security is better antivirus than Norton 2006. is there any chance to get any free antivirus software that can give the same performance of Kaspersky and Norton

If you want to pay, go for Kaspersky or Bitdefender. You get great cover balanced with ease of use.
If you want a freebie, use AVG anti virus which runs in the background and add Bitdefender 8 which is passive (you use it to scan suspect files.)

For most people the level of protection offered by the free versions is ok – as long as you are sensible online. For example, don’t open e-mails if you don’t know the sender, check out links using MacAffee Site Advisor before you visit them.
I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

Download the AVG free versions of antivirus and antispyware. far better than Norton and Macafee, which renders xp unstable. Try it. What have you to lose?

In My opnion you you should purchase avast it’s good belive me.
If you install kaspersky then you will not able to install any other antivirus or firewall.
KAV is an excellent choice!
