Help, my system recovery discs don’t work. I have an HP Pavilion a744x with Windows XP, it’s a desktop computer. I formatted my machine and was getting ready to restore the system, but the machine stops in the middle with data that can’t be read.
Do you know where I can acquire the data? HP Pavilion a744x?
I all ready called HP they said I am out of warranty. Well thank you for your help, and yeah I could install Ubuntu, but I have all my Windows software

Hiya i wana make some recovery discs for my pc im using windows xp and i have a substancial amount of data on it i dont want to lose all of it…is there a programme i can get so i can put my whole hard drive on to a disc i know nero 8 does it but i want to know the best software so i know 100% if i do come across a system failure im guaranteed to restore my pc with all my data on it.

My computer is seriously chugging lately, and all I have is an outdated version of Norton, so I’m sure I’m due for some better A/V software with ad/spyware busting abilities. But I’m not into paying 70$ just to RENEW Norton, when I’m sure there are better, less expensive (or free???) programs out there.

I have free avg antivirus installed on my computer but Windows security says that it does not detect any antivirus software. i have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but still im having the same problem. any suggestions?

I just did a Full System Recovery and unfortunately I don’t have either the original installation disc, or a recovery disc. I’m aware that all of my documents, files, anything and everything will be lost, but right now that’s the least of my problems.
When I start the computer, it does its normal process until it tells me that “Windows could not start successfully”, and that “A recent hardware or software change might have caused this”. I’m then directed to the option “Boot default hardware configuration”, and then it says that “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWS\system32\ config\system” It says that I can repair it via Windows Setup , using the original Setup CD-ROM, which I don’t have. Am I pretty much hopeless? Just to warn you, I’m gonna keep asking this until I have an answer. Sorry, but I’m desperate.

i got some power virus on my pc a few months back + ive been fixin it bit by bit. my comps like 90% back to normal but the registry + stuff like that is missing loads of files, drivers etc.
i reckon i need to return it factory settings and reinstall evrything but i cant atm as ive got no where to back up all my files to.
i have no sound my disk drives are just working but i cant boot up half my apps/games etc. basially i need some software free/crackable or not free whatever to sort the mess out

Hi,
I stuffed my sisters laptop by mistake and she had to re-format the hard drive, now she has lost all of her digital photo’s and I mean all, sadly the photo’s of her daughter from birthdays and christmas and all the others are now gone.
Main problem is we haven’t got enough money to buy any software yet and I know the photo’s can be recovered as I have found 2 programs that have done just that.
Problem with them is that to save the photo’s we need to buy the programs.
So the long and the short of it is:
We need desperately to find a FREE FULL version of a digital photo recovery program to recover them back from her hard drive.
Please help.
Also know that as soon as we get the photo’s back they are being saved to CD and sent via email to family so we should never have this problem again, fingers crossed anyway.
