I recently used the computer recovery disc that came with my computer because my computer was slow and unresponsive, and I was advised to do so. I put the CD in and restarted my computer, and ran the system recovery program. I clicked on the options Quick Format and then something like NSFN or something similiar. Now, my computer will not start up. If I turn it on, it runs through most of the start up procedure, then jumps to a menu with the words: “Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this probelm as: load needed DLLs needed for kernal.” I am using another computer to ask this question, but I need my computer back online. I would go to a customer service, but for that I will need to wait several hours and would love if someone on here could offer any assistance. Is there anything I can do?

Hi,
this is easy if you have a windows install disc, if you do just put it into your CD drive and then reboot your system, when it starts from the disc select install, then reformat, then install back onto the same partition again (that’s important), and “Bingo” your system will have a clean install of windows, XP Pro with SP3 i hope (it’s still the best). hope this all helps you.
do not install sp3!!!!!! it is a beta testing program for expericed windows experts !!!!!!—- check google for more info
Your system has been infected with a malware that has deleted critical files. Nothing you can do will save it. Sorry, it’s time for a new install.
First you need to rescue your files. Download and burn http://www.pclinuxos.com/ . Boot from it, if you have only one optical unit run the OS from memory and remove the disk, Start > Utilities > Archiving > K3b = the burner program and back up all your files( copy them to a dvd+r). Attention, malware files end with .exe or another weird extension, be carefull at what you save. Then open Computer Management > Hardware > pick the hard disk, open it and delete all partitions.
Second comes the fresh installation of the OS: if you liked PCLinuxOS double click on Install; don’t forget that you are far more secure in Linux. If not restart the pc, insert WinXP disk and do a fresh install.
And next time pick a better antivirus, like http://www.avast.com/ .
you need to boot the restore cd and select install windows or recover not format
You probably need to reinstall windows. It sounds like a lot of your operating system is missing.
