Why Doesnt My Antivirus Software Show Up Viruses?

I’m sure that my laptop has viruses as it’s been very slow recently and free scans have appeared from norton when i’m on the internet that show many viruses but i’m not sure if this is just to get me to buy a norton package. When i scan my computer however it never shows up any viruses at all. I’m very confused and afraid it will ruin my computer. Anyone have any ideas? i use vista by the way.

Do yourself a great favour and visit this site http://www.kaspersky.com/trial
top left of the page and four down is a free scan from the best anti virus you can buy You don’t have to disable the anti virus you have installed to use this
If you like what you see and you will help yourself to a 30 day free trial of a whole suite that will give you not only a fully functioning computer but you will also sleep well at night oh while you are visiting you can compare this with the rest and see for yourself

Do you Have Norton? and is it up to Date? Mostly stay current for 1 year normally. Do not renew Norton if you have.
    TRY AVG OR AVAST.
Here are some tips for you below.
Virus Protection– 2 programs of virus protection will conflict with each other and will actually cancel out the protection. .
Running Spybot and Defender, with EITHER Avast or Avg (great Free virus protection programs ) will keep a computer in good working condition.
Windows Defender and Spybot are 2 really good FREE Spyware Programs.
Links Below are Programs that WILL Help. They are FREE.
I have Both AVG and Spybot on my computer.
    AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.519http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F…
    Spybot – Search & Destroy 1.5.2http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-De…
    Avasthttp://www.avast.com/eng/home-registrati…
    Ccleanerhttp://www.download.com/3120-20_4.html?q…
There are alot of $ anti-virus and Internet security programs out there,
ie: Norton, McAfee, Panda, Bitdefender. If you would like to pay $
then get Kaspersky. I feel that is the best for your money.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck

If you do not have virus protection installed i recommend you get one try avast free http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-... or avg free http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe
also download free malwarebytes to get rid of any popups that might be a security risk too http://cid-47f44a45c1c7c119.skydrive.liv...
i would suggest you defrag as the post above says and also run free ccleaner to get rid of any left over files http://cid-47f44a45c1c7c119.skydrive.liv…

  5. This is very simple, something most people that use windows don’t understand. You file system will become fragmented, that means that the computer will have to look on more places to run things. Just run a disk defrag, and see if thats any better

    Hello,
You could install some free trial antivirus program and to check your PC.

Ignore free scans that ‘pop’ up without you initiating them. Use a reliable AV scanner – there are plenty about but Panda do a good, free, scan.
