The Best (and Cheapest :p) Antivirus Software Out There?

ok im looking for the best antivirus (under $60 if possible) program on the market….ive heard of norton, mcafee, bit defender, and the list just goes on and on >.>…..i just want one that wont crash my pc or slow it down while doing scans and etc, and can also scan a SINGLE file or folder wen i want it to (norton 360 doesnt do that >.>…)
and plz no AVG or other free softwares

You won’t find one that doesn’t slow it down. It’s a program. It’s going to use system resources. There’s no way around that. But honestly, paying for one is silly. The free ones are basically as good as the paid one.
The biggest security hole is the one sitting between the keyboard and chair.
Personally I recommend AVG free to all my customers, because they are more likely to maintain it longer than the initial 1-year most pay-for AV solutions offer.

Microsoft has an excellent free Scanner and also a 90 day/ 3 mth trial of their Live Protection.
Go to http://www.microsoft.com
Security & Updates tab click for Home Users
Next, Under the Security Products bar located to the right of the screen, select Windows Live OneCare or Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner.
If you select Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner this will run a quick scan on your pc and remove any viruses, spyware, trojans, etc. that you may have on your computer.
If you select Windows Live OneCare this will enable you to download the free trial of the program by clicking on Free Trial (unless you want to purchase right now – if that’s the case press buy now).
(NOTE: You will need to uninstall all other antivirus or firewall programs that you currently have on your computer in order to install Microsoft’s Windows Live OneCare.
It’s obvious that you don’t want the best or cheapest if you don’t want a program like AVG free or Avast. The IT director at my company uses AVG on his personal computers and laptops. He says that it is much better than Norton and many other programs that you will pay for. I also use it on my home computers and none of them have been infected with a virus.
You want a good protection under $60. The one I recommend to you is.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 = very good – 7 out of 10
Bitdefender Total Security = very good – 8 out of 10
ESET Smart Security = excellent – 9 out of 10
I have ESET protecting my computer for the next 50 years
It finds more infections than the others and so my choice is ESET Smart Security
When you want to protect your computer for free, you can ,but do not rely on one program. Install a combination of anti virus and anti spyware programs.

NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2009 can do that . run custom scan & choose the thing you want . IT COST 59.99 $ . all other antivirus are very light and not detective as norton .
Go fr Kaspersky. Its the best.It gives to the user even control over the ports that are open in ur system. You can configure it in such a way that u have total control over the ports,programs running and even the updating is damn good. It detects the viruses in the best way.
