I Had A New Hard Drive Installed In My Laptop , But My Recovery Disc D/n Work How Can I Get My System Working?

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K15 laptop, and I recently had a new hard drive installed but the recovery disc only downloads 1/2 way.Sony no longer has the recovery disc. Can I just re-installed windows XP and then download the software to the rest of the programs? Or is there a place to get a copy of the disc?

You can do a fresh install of XP but it probably will ask you for some drivers like RAID etc…so in turn you will probly need an external floppy drive to load them ( get one from WAL MART and take it back)..
go to SOny’s webpage and it should give you help on what drivers and controllers you need to install..
    I hope this helps

since its a new HDD simply reload windows xp then add your software you wish to put on the computer it will make life alot easier.

If you have a cd with windows xp on it, try that first. But you probably won’t be able to register windows and after 30 days it will expire and you will be back at square one. You will probably have to go to Microsoft.com and purchase a new windows xp disc which will run you around $100 or more. It may be cheaper if you already have a windows xp disc but it won’t register, to install that, then buy a new product key from Microsoft. They will also send you a new xp disc in the mail. I just had to do this a month ago. Once you get windows installed, you can download all the drivers needed for your laptop on Sony.com.
