I have vista business also and i use avast and it is by far the best free anti virus out there, avast works in the background you barely notice it unless it detects a virus or prevents access to a website because it is a known threat

avast does not slow down the computer at all
make sure you choose the correct version for your country
Avast runs well on Vista – when it installs, it will offer to run a boot time scan – so when you restart the laptop, it will scan the entire drive before Windows loads – so it can take a while but if you suspect you have a virus, this is a good way of getting rid of it – Avast installs two icons in the system tray – right click one to merge it with the other for less clutter. Avast updates frequently require you to reboot your laptop.http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_…
Avira Antivir also works well with Vista and is very light on resources but has a very good detection rate for a free antivirus; installs simply and quickly without the need to restart your pc. Updates can be a little slow.http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivi…
Both work very well alongside PC Tools Threatfire for added protectionhttp://www.threatfire.com/
I have AVG and a lot of my friends use AVG.
I’d definately recommend that, and I’m a software developer so I’m very computer literate. I’ve had no problems with it, and there are updates for it released all the time. It’s a quality anti-virus and it is totally free.

You can protect your computer very well with free programs. The best way is to use a combination of anti virus and anti spyware programs
Anti virus and firewall prohttp://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/d…
orhttp://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht…
in combination withhttp://www.pctools.com/firewall/
Spywareblasterhttp://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareb…
Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computerhttp://www.threatfire.com/
This is a very good program, that completely runs in the backgroundhttp://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.ht…
Anti spywarehttp://www.spywareterminator.com/http://en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telech…http://en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telech…
Installing these programs, will not use any extra RAM or CPU usage.
Avira Antivir personal edition. It’s one of the best free ones out there.
check out their websitehttp://www.avira.com
don’t just take my word for it, look it up. I’ve been using it for years.
yes i would recommended you to download AVAST rather then AVG, Avast will work fine and is better then AVG.
I really love avast over AVG
