Do I Need To Purchase The Phone Software If I Have A Bluetooth Dongle?

I have a Motoroal Rzr with bluetooth on it. It didn’t not come with the CDrom software – I’d have to purchase it. If I buy a bluetooth dongle, would I still need the software or could I just download to the dongle and then hook it up to my phone! Help I’m new to this stuff!
