i have an emachines computer i bought from a freind now its very very slow i didnt any of the software can i perform a destructive recovery without the discs i know u can with a compaq and an hp

You can only do it “if” you have the installation files stored on a second partition on the harddrive like some HP’s and Compaqs
Otherwise you “will” need an OS cd to reinstall
you can do a system recovery.. restart in safe mode and chosoe to start system recovery,, choose the earliest date you can. but yo reinstall windows, no you need the disks. pain in the rear right? have to go spend 180 bucks on windows xp that will be discontinued next year.. i suggest using ubuntu linux found here http://www.ubuntu.com its totally free and works better than XP anyway. you won’t have to worry abtou viruses, spywar defraging your hard drive. I’m using linux right now to answer this question.
you dont need the disk for sure
reboot and hit f10 keep tapping until the options come up it might be f11 ..its been awhile sense i did it…but it is really simple just follow the instructions.
