I ran PC Recovery on my HP Laptop, it said it was successful but all the files (music, pics, etc) are still on the drive. They are not accessable apart from with Data recovery software. How do I delete them without totally re formatting my Hard drive and losing windows. I also don’t have an XP disc to re-install windows if I did have to format the drive. HELP!!!!
Thanks guys

I don’t use computers, I have pens.
At this point you have no option but to get an installation disk.
you carnt unless you back up the drive using a back up program
a few years ago HP stopped providing recovery disks and provided recovery partitions on your hard drive. you can make your own disk from this file..
if you have a “recovery partition”, you should be able to format the larger file storage partition an your hard drive, and windows will be on the smaller (less than 5 gig) partition.
otherwise, an install of an hp type of XP using the code that should be on a sticker on your laptop should work…but i havn’t tried that lately.
First of all, if you want to simply restore your computer to factory defaults while performing a low-level format of your hard drive you will have to “create” your own system recovery disks. Alot of vendors now setup a utility on your computer for you to create your own. Just go into your “All Programs” and look for your vdr support option –> then select create recovery disks or something to that effect. Once you’re finished take the first system recovery disk and pop it into your disk drive and reboot the computer. When the computer starts back up you should get a black screen with just a few options –> choose Format. This will take you into the Full System recovery mode, not the “Non-Destructive” one that you went thru already. Just make sure you back up your important data.
Hope this Helps!
its nt possible to format d hard disk widout deleting d os
May I suggest that when you do get an installation disk and format your hard drive, you make a partition on it just for windows. This way if it happens again you won’t lose files.
