Is There A Way To Do A System Recovery And Keep The Files On Your Hard Drive?

Okay, about a year ago, I was told that you could do a System Recovery, but keep the files on your computer.
No having to restore them with a program, no back up disks, nadda. I simply went to my C:( I think) and all my files were there. I’m not sure if you can still do this though…. but I need to do a systerm recovery, and can barely open up any IE/FIREFOX or any other browsers, so I couldn’t/can’t try to get any recovery software like that…
I hope I’m making sense! I have Win XP on an hp pav vx74.
Let me repeat, one of the XP workers TOLD ME that you could keep your files on the computer after you did a System Recovery. (I can’t find anything about this in yahoo! answers or google…)

What Are The Best And Cheapest Software Programs For Music Recording?

I am looking for a program that I can put on my computer so that I can record me singing and put it on a cd. I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to computers and I do not have a ton of money to spend. What are some cheap and easy software programs that I could buy to use for this? How Can I Find Companies That Are Using Pirated Software And Who Do I Report Them To?

Call me a hypocrite but I think it’s inevitable that individuals will use pirated software but I think it’s just unacceptable for companies to do so. I mean they are selling a product, how would they feel if everyone got their product for free? Don’t get me wrong, I think individuals using it is “bad” too, but it’s the companies that we need to catch in my opinion. Go for the big fish. So my question is, does anyone know how to find out what US companies might be using pirated software, and how to report them?

I am starting the paramedic program this summer and I understand that there is alot of medical terms I am going to need to memorize. I was hoping to purchase a recording software for my pc so that I may record the terms and tranfer them to my ipod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How Can I Save Software Before Running Product Recovery?

I have a problem with my computer that can only be solved by running systems recovery which means restoring my computer to factory settings. I have a lot of software installed and wonder if there is a way of saving all this before using sr. I have back-up discs of all files but I don’t think that it includes the actual software. Is ther any way of saving software as I don’t want to spend hours reinstalling it all individually. My computer runs on Windows Vista Home Premium, and the problem means that I can’t install any upgrades. I have contacted Microsoft and they have told me that the only way to sort it out is product recovery. I tried system restore but that didn’t help. I am not very tech minded so any help would be appreciated. Also do I need to save e-mail addresses etc or are they stored on the back-up disc?
