How Can I Safely Remove My Anti Virus Software To Install Another Anti Virus Program?

I currently have norten anti virus program installed on my computer but I want to remove it and install another anti virus program. What should I do first:
Remove the anti virus program and then install the new software
or
Install the new software then remove the old program?

please do this :-
go to Norton’s web site and download there anti-virus removal tool (this is the only way you can total remove Norton’s from your system) then run the software and reboot afterwords, then go to “AVG 8″ home page (follow link) and download and install “AVG 8 anti-virus” which is totally free and also comes with free updates as well, and works far better then Norton’s will ever do.

Always uninstall the old program before installing the new one. If you need to download the new from the net do it before uninstalling the old one, but save the file to the desktop or somewhere you will remember, then uninstall. That way you do not need to go on the Internet with out AV protection (not recommended at all) Add remove programs, remove the main part of 360, then when it is done check to see if Live Update remains, if so uninstall it, then reboot before installing the new AV program
Download the new anti virus program!! once downloaded! disconnect from the internet!! …..Now uninstall your existing program and reboot if necessary! Go to Nortons website to see look for a removal tool that will remove every part of this app!!http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsg…
Now install your new version!! and restart PC…..Now connect to the internet and update this program!:)
Remove Norton first, then install the new one.

Remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC
Uninstall the old anti virus first. Start/Control Panel/Add remove programs. Restart your computer and then install the new software.
If you are handy with the Registry, you may want to edit it and remove the old anti virus’s folder, but remember to back the Registry up first.
install the new first, between them both you may get new viruses whilst your unprotected, unless ofcourse you can install the new soon after removing the old, in that case it’d be better.
i have to tell you though, it’s risky. norton is one of the best.

start-control panel-make sure its classic view-add or remove programs- find it and remove it then install the new.
Remove the old software first or else it will totally mess up everything
