What Is A Good Video Software To Join 2 Video Files?

i have tried several video software but with no success. i tried those free ones but after joining the 2 video files i can’t convert them to another format. i tried using adobe premiere elements 4.0 but it changes the resolution of my original video file. can someone recommend me a good software that will join 2 video files that will not change the resolution of my source and then i can convert it to iPod format.

   Virtualdub is a good program for joining video files.http://www.virtualdub.org/download.html
   It is also often recommended so you may have tried it.
   A thing about joining video files.
   1. they must be identical in their production ie.
   Same frame rate
   Same codec
   Same bitrate/data rate/sample size
   Some of the ‘dumbed down’ joining software will join anything regardless.
   This can lead to problems, especially if you need to further process the file.
