I had a Windows partition with all my documents in it. Then, my friend recently passed me his hard disk, and I wanted to format it in order to create a clean drive to put my files in. But I accidently deleted and formatted my Windows partition. It was a fast-format, therefore no re-pass, so the partition is supposed to be still there, but only deleted.
Now, I haven’t written data to that partition since this happened. I tried several file recovery tool, but none of them seem to work. Is there a good software (bootable disk) that is able to recover the partition I lost? And if it’s free, it’s better.
Thanks

I use Active@ Partition Recovery
You can check the website http://www.partition-recovery.com/
Download a free trial and you can check to see if it will be able to get your data back. The free one won’t recover anything, but it let you know if their full product will work on your problem. Then decide if you want to spend $40 to get your stuff back…
You can try to recover data from reformatted partition with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:http://www.munsoft.com/EasyDriveDataReco…
It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
Have given TestDisk a try? Try it with the default options first, i.e don’t force it to chose any particular partition type. I have had great luck with it.
