Camera Delete All Button? Inexplicably Deletes All Photos.?

Okay, so I’ve got a Canon PowerShot SD1000. Yesterday, I looked at/reviewed all my pictures, and then I went to play around with some of the settings. The next thing I know, right after deleting a picture of the computer, it says that my memory card is empty. I lost 3 months worth of memories, including my 8th grade graduation, which was a big deal to me! Has anybody else’s PowerShot done this? Is there any way to recover all the pictures?

Don’t panic! Just don’t take any more pictures using that card, because if you do the new files will be overwrriten on the ones you want to recover.
There is disk recovery software that’ll bring it all back for you.
If your card is a SanDisk Extreme, then yeah, like lidybeff said, there’s a software program that came with it that’ll do the job. If it isn’t Extreme though, they don’t give you that software. SanDisk makes at least three different quality cards. The basic one is blue. The Ultra series is black & red, and extreme is … heck I don’t remember. But it says “Extreme” on it. Extreme I, or II, or IV … whatever!
Depending on where you live, do some research. There are some recovery programs I’ve heard about but I don’t know where to get them or how well they work. a good camera store might have the ability to recover it for you.
I use the San Disk program, myself. It works great. It’s called “RescuePRO, File Recovery Utility.”
If you can’t find another solution you can go out and buy a new SanDisk Extreme card that includes the software, take it home, install it and your problem will be solved.
BTW, once you’ve installed the software, you can use it to recover just about any kind of file. It’ not exclusively for recovering a particular brand or a specific type of file.
Good luck! We’ve all done it. At least, I know I have … more than once!

I don’t know anything about your particular camera.I know that with compact flash memory cards you can buy software to recover deleted photos.Check to see if this type of software is available for the memory card that you use,if not your photo’s are probably lost for good.
The camera delete all button does just that so be careful when reviewing photo’s,be sure not to press that button by mistake.
    Best of luck

I believe that that memory card comes with a little cd for file recovery. I have no idea how or if it would work.
