Scandisk Memory Card Format Error..?

Okay so i have a dell inspiron 6400 (piece a crap i know). but i put my memory card into it everyday to edit movies,a do all the pics stuff, and it works great. but my sister got a new HP laptop with windows vista, and i put my memory card into it, so she could transfer a pic, and then i tried putting it back into my comp. and camera (sony cybershot DSC-W55) and both said Format error….How do i fix it? i dont wanna recover photos just wann a fix the card, its a brand new 2 GB card, and im gettin a new HP too, so how do i prevent this from happening again? PLease and thanks! (be specific pleaseeeeee)

    Just stick the card back in your pc and format it. Go to my computer>> Right click on the drive(should be Drive F or G) >> Choose Format>> Check Mark QUICK Format and Make sure File System is FAT32— Then click start format and you done.
