How Do I Recover Space In My Sandisk Ultra Ii Memory Card?

I bought a SanDisk Ultra II 2.0 GB compact flash-card for my nikon. It works fine except when I plugged it on my computer and took out the pictures, it did not recover the space on the card. I had over 471 available photos left but started off with nearly 600. once i took them off the disk I assumed that the space woldcome back, but it hasn’t. If i delete a poto using the camera THe space memory it took is recovered but i cannot recover the space of the photos i took out using my computer. Please Help.

When you plug your camera, or card reader, into your USB port, what program pops up? If it is the windows explorer, you should have an option to delete the photos from your media after you download them to a folder on your hard drive.
If it is the nikon supplied software, you need to look into the options and ensure that deleting the photo from the CF card is enabled.
Another option is to use the camera to reformat the card after you are sure that you have downloaded all the photos to your hard disk.

You just have to format the card using the format feature on the camera. This should have been covered by the owner’s manual. Do NOT delete anything … that can eventually cause corruption of any image files you may shoot later.
If you own a Mac, do NOT initialize the card with it.
600 seems awfully high for a 2GB card, unless your camera has a 6 mp sensor.

import all images to cumputer and click delete after importing. Might be a dodgy card too.
